4. Introduction
The ready-made garments (RMG) sector of Bangladesh has got a greater facet than any other sector in terms of
growth and foreign exchange earnings. It makes a significant contribution to the national economy by creating
generous employment opportunities and reducing poverty through socioeconomic development. Despite
unquestionable success story, this sector has got a number of formidable challenges for the future growth. The
present study has made a search on different dimensions of contribution and challenges of RMG industry in
Bangladesh. To accomplish the task, a descriptive research based on study of available records is conducted. It has
also contributed tremendously through empowering women as almost 90 percent of its labor force is female which
ranked the highest in Southeast Asia. In terms of core economic consideration RMG holds almost 14.07 percent of
the GDP of Bangladesh as well as the 81 percent of the total export earnings. The study however, identifies some
challenges towards its future development including unskilled workers, improper infrastructure, energy crisis, bank
loan and high rate of interest, high tax rate, intricate social compliance, political crisis, lack of market and product
diversification, compliance pressure of accord and alliance and lack of integration. Therefore, collaborative and
coordinated steps from both public and private sectors need to be initiated to overcome these challenges.

17. Critical Analysis
In my four years study I got idea about the responsibility of a merchandiser, but during my intern period I saw
that, these responsibilities are distributed in other departments, Such as: Commercial department works with L/C,
Planning department works with T&A sheet, Supply chain management department works with trims & accessories
booking etc.
From the theoretical knowledge, we learn that the AQL system basically maintained from the point 1.5 to the 10
point. But, in the factory we observe that for some buyer the AQL procedure is 0.5 point or Zero tolerance.
19. SWOT Analysis
Strength:
Pacific Jeans Ltd. has good market reputation
by providing quality products to the buyer
within required time.
Encouraging working environment.
Eco-friendly wash procedure which are more
useful for the worker who works in R & D
department.
Sustainable: Green product development &
utilize it, which are chemical free.
Less natural resource like water, energy
required due to more use of sustainable wash.
Weakness:
Highly depend on foreigners for update
wash technology.
Less Ingredients available.
They depend on foreign wash technician for
update wash procedure like laser, sustainable
wash etc., that means, local expert technician
is too much poor compared to demand.
Less use of new technologies such as 3D
software.
Opportunities:
They can create new innovative wash procedure with
collaboration of different competitor‘s countries through the
sharing of experience, manpower or technology.
They can introduce their own design to global market.
Threats:
Focusing on few renowned buyers.
Production capacity in R & D (Washing) is comparatively
less than the competitors.
20. Recommendations
Problems Recommendations
Less Ingredients available. If elements of wash procedure are less
available in our local market, so we need
to find out others alternate way of washing
to avoid this problem.
Lower manpower & update technology in
R&D section.
Should increase manpower in R&D section.
Less use of new technologies such as 3D
software.
Should increase new technologies such as
3D software.
They have fewer tendencies to execute. New technologies and working methods
should be adopted with full enthusiasm.
Highly depend on foreigners for update wash
technology.
Dependency on foreigners for update wash
technology need to be reduced, because it‘s
too much expensive.
21. Conclusion
In conclusion, I can say that internship program is really essential for every student to get the idea about garments
industry. The management portion of all departments of Pacific Jeans Ltd. is performing its job efficiently. In fact
the all departments are most important equally to increase the productivity by low cost and to maintain the well
reputation. Beside the executives are very industrious and serious in performing their jobs. The executives hardly try
to achieve 90% efficiency. The organization is maintaining a high quality work environment in accordance with the
labor act of Bangladesh. Workers get adequate wages and they get their wages timely. So the workers are satisfied
and there is no industrial dispute or labor unrest. If the Company follows the recommendations made in this report, I
believe that it can overcome the present problem. And in the long run the company will be benefited and it may
become the market leader inner future. There is no doubt that Pacific Jeans has created a good reputation in the
market by its quality product and service. It should maintain the quality and try to diverse its business.
