DEFINTION AND TYPES OF SETS

1. SETS
A collection of well
defined object is called
set.
EX : SET OF PLANTS, SET OF ANIMALS ,SET OF FLOWERS.

2. TYPES OF SET :
 FINITE SET
 INFINITE SET
 NULL SET
 SINGLETON SET

3. TYPES OF SET
FINITE SET :
 A set which has countable number
of elements.
 EX: Students in classroom
 Vowels of English alphabets.
INFINITE SET:
 A set which has uncountable
number of elements.
 EX: Set of stars in the sky,
 Set of prime numbers.

4. NULL SET :
A set which contains no elements
is called null set.
 EX : Odd numbers divisible by 2,
 Square numbers between 50to60.

5. SINGLETON SET:
A set which contains only
one element is called singleton set.
 Ex : numbers of moons to earth,
 Numbers of nose on our face

6. OPERATIONS ON SETS:
 UNION SETS : When all the
elements of two or more sets are
written in one set is called union
sets.
 EX : If A={1, 2, 4, 5} and B={2, 4, 6,
8, 10 }
 AUB = {1,2,4,5,6,8,10}

7. INTERSECTION SETS :
Set of common elements of
given sets is called intersection sets.
 EX : A = { 1 ,2 ,3} and B = {3 , 4 ,5}
A inter section B is 3 .

8. SYSTEM APPROACH : System approach is a
mutually related and mutually dependent
elements in a group.
EX: educational system ,system of human
beings.

9. Components or parameters or elements of
system approach :
 INPUT
 PROCESS
 OUT PUT
 ANALYSIS AND FEED BACK

10.  It improves the instructional systems.
 It helps to make educational maps
 Bring efficiency in teaching.
 Improves quality of education.
 It helps in self learning.
