1. Ladies for Human Rights
A Roman artist, Marcello Reboani is presenting eighteen portraits of women who, starting from
the 20th century, got involved in the fight for human rights thus affirming themselves as
international icons in the social commitment. The women portrayed will include: Anna Frank,
Annie Lennox, Audrey Hepburn, Aung San Suu Kyi, Caddy Adzuba Furaha, Eleanor
Roosvelt, Ellen Sirleaf, Giulia Tamayo, Joan Baez, Isabel Allende, Lady Diana Spencer,
Leymah Gbowee, Liz Taylor, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Maria Montessori, Norma Cruz,
Rania of Jordan and Rita Levi Montalcini.
The RFKCenter/Europe, the main partner and sponsor of the exposition, has embraced the “green”
philosophy which has marked Reboani's artistic production for years: the eco-portraits will be
realised using recycled materials such as wood, aluminium, plastic and, for the first time, fabric and
leather.
Part of the artwork sale proceeds will be used for the support of initiatives of the Robert F. Kennedy
Center/Europe in defense of human rights.
