Laboratory Duties:
Sample preparation; Processing sample submissions and sample enrichments as
required for test protocol.
PCR; using lysis buffers to extract DNA from enrichment samples and amplifying DNA
with the use of thermocyclers.
Electrophoresis; Agarose Gel preparation, sample loading and imaging for
interpretation.
Plate Analyst; analyzing various plate preparations for suspected organisms, including
E. Coli/Coliforms(MPN tubes as well), Enterobacter, Staphylococcus Aureus and
Yeast/Mold.

Microscopy; working with various types of microscopes including confocal, compound,
and fluorescent.
Cell separation; implementation of various separation schemes including serial dilution,
centrifugation and density gradient separation.
Cell differential staining; specifically those that deal with nucleic acids and differentiate
based on membrane permeability.
Laboratory protocol research; researching different databases and publications for
similar experiments.
