7. #1 favorite--27 Waterfalls
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Northern
Corridor mountain range and behind the long
stalks of sugar cane lays a treasure you won't
find anywhere else in the world.
8. You can climb, jump off,
and slide down natural
waterslides on this
obstacle course created by
Mother Nature and the
Damajagua River.
9. Teleferico Puerto Plata Cable Car
The Cable Car at Puerto Plata is
located on Mt. Isabel de Torres,
south of the city,
At the top of the mountain, you
will enjoy wonderful views of
the ocean and city. Relax as you
stroll through as beautiful
gardens. Because of the wide
variety of animals and plants,
this area has become a
Scientific Reserve.
It is such a peaceful spot away
from the hustle and bustle of the
city and an added bonus, it's a
few degrees cooler as well!
10. Traditional Dominican Home
When you arrive, at the top of
a fortress is the statue of "Christ
the Redeemer" with open arms
to welcome to visitors.
Botanical Gardens
11. Paradise Island
Paradise Island is a coral islet located in the Northwest of the
Dominican Republic off the coast of Puerto Plata. It is incredibly
beautiful. Imagine sunning on a small island lost in the sea
surrounded by white sands and crystal-clear waters with colors
ranging from turquoise blue to emerald green. This is precisely why
this little kay is called Paradise Island.
Enjoy phenomenal snorkeling!
12.
13. San Felipe Fortress in Puerto Plata
The construction of the fort was commissioned by King Felipe
II of Spain in 1564, and it was completed in 1577. Today, the
Fortaleza San Felipe serves as a museum showcasing the
important role it has played in the history of Puerto Plata,
and the Dominican Republic. The Fortaleza houses military
artifacts from the 18th and 19th centuries.
14. Beyond the beach, the beautiful resort, and the
entertaining excursions, and within walking distance
from Paradise, we discovered how the majority of the
"real people" in the Dominican Republic live.
15. Witnessing this great poverty was the inspiration for creating
Dominican Starfish Foundation in 2012. Knowing that we
couldn't possibly scratch the surface of the extreme need, we
named our foundation after the famous Starfish Story and
strive to make a difference, one person, one family at a time!
16.
17. For a very different, poignant, real-life adventure,
we offer our guests the opportunity to tour some
impoverished communities where the locals live.
Some of these people are those who serve you at
the resort and host you on excursions.
18. You will have the opportunity to visit the homes of the local
Dominican and Haitian people and witness for yourself
their humble living conditions. We offer you the experience
of sharing food packs. A $10 food pack will feed a family of
4 the basics for 4 days. Purchase as many as you can afford
and with your family and friends participate in this and
other humbling, life-changing activities.
19. You will also have the opportunity to visit schools
in the local area, and if you wish, deliver gifts to the
children who are in such need and who appreciate
even the smallest offering.
20. We look forward to having you join us on one
of our Humanitarian Vacations!
