5. And as wonderful as the food, was the
time they spent playing with the children!!

in the group also donated a bed and a dining room table and chairs.

at the new table
built by the
Dominican Starfish
Construction Team in
the area where the
new playground will
be built soon.
11. Flamingo English Class
enjoyed a new teacher
for a day. Jack ZoBell did
an excellent job of
teaching and entertaining
the children and giving
great ideas to the
teacher!
12. Jomira and her husband have been
working to build their own home for
themselves and their 3 children.
They had completely exhausted their
recourses. They are so grateful for
the help that they were given by
Wade Payne and Dominican Starfish
Foundation to finish this project!
13. Angelica’s home is complete!!
On October 8, a group from Las
Vegas, NV, Maryland and
Okotoks, Alberta painted the
home! The money for the paint
was raised by 11-year-old
Sophie Palmer from Maryland.
Angelica is thrilled!!
15. Paly & Family
Paly has 3 sons. 2 live with their
grandmother as she is unemployed
and can't support them as a single
mother. Her son Wenderlin who
lives with her is a student in our
Flamingo English School. Paly’s
father started a house for her next
door about 10 years ago but passed
away before he could finish it. We
visited the home October 12 and
found heart-breaking conditions.
17. While in the Dominican we met
Lan, Rocio and family. Funds for
their home were donated
through Dominican Starfish
Foundation by Save the World
Foundation directed by Tamara
Fackrell. Construction on their
home began in October.

18. Hurricane Fiona did some major damage to the home we were
building in San Rafael de Yuma for Maribel and her sister. The
columns and more were not yet completed when it hit.
We are so grateful to
Fernando and
Miguel, our
construction team
managers of one of
our crews for taking
the 7-hour drive to
check on the
situation there.
They arranged
everything for the
continuation of the
project so the girls
will have there home.
19. Helping those who help themselves is one of our favorite this to do.
This single mom ( who wishes to remain anonymous) got her house
to this point before asking for help. We were able to raise the
money for doors, windows, plumbing and electrical so that she could
move in with her family. We are happy to help make a difference!
20. We replaced the roof on a home in San Rafael de
Yuma that was destroyed by Hurricane Fiona.
21. We are working to help complete a home
in the countryside near Munoz. This is
being built by a young couple, waiting to
get married until their home is finished to
live in. We are hoping to raise more for
them in the future.
22. With donations through Dominican Starfish
Foundation, we helped a family receive a
new ceiling in their home. They replaced a
metal roof that was full of holes and leaking
on the family.
They also received donations to completely
repaint and finish the home they have lived
in for many years!! Thanks to kind donors!!
23. HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
As part of our mandate, we continued to assist those in
need of medical assistance. This month we were able to
help pay medical assistance for Bibi who has a badly
broken leg. He is a former worker of the foundation.
24. We ended our productive trip to the
Dominican Republic with an amazing
community event hosted in our Starfish
Center by our Dominican Director, Amarilis
Urena. She gave honor to the educators,
the businesspeople, the foundations and
more in the community of Javillar! In
particular, we gave appreciation to the
teachers who have facilitated the ILP
program in the school in Javillar.
25. The members at the head table consisted
of high-ranking government and
educational leaders. Javillar is on the map!
26. Before even saying
goodbye to
October, we have
planned an exciting
event for
November. We
can’t wait to see
the results one
month from now!!
