The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
1. CONVENTION1: Artist name/logo
Her usual logo/name
It appears on a lot of her products
She has/had merchandise surrounding it
She used to have it as her youtube and twitter banner
It can also be seen when her name is advertised
Especially for tour
It is white serif font appearing on the black background
Polysemic as to what the link is to dark pop, however gives me car/technology vibes
CONVENTION2: Background image
Similar to the album, the background is plain black
Her dark colours link to her genre, being dark pop, and especially to the religious links in her music
videos and album (clearly taking some influence from Madonna and Lady Gaga)
I’ll address the centralimage in a later convention
CONVENTION3: Use offrames
Something you see with websites is use of framing. In this cade, use of framing would have Bthe image
of billie staying still, despite whether you scroll up or down
There isn’t any of this present on her website, however it is something we will consider when we create
our website
Other framing includes
Logo is the largest image
Conventional, top links are just under, however still at the top
CONVENTION4: Social Media
Sometimes you see social media at the top of the website, either as a link along with the main sections, or
in the top left/right corner
2. On this website, and the same conventionally, they are at the bottom
This website links facebook, twitter, instagram, Spotify, Apple Music, youtube
These are the standard links
Sometimes, with younger artists, they link more social medias, as their audience will access their work
more (with the audience being younger)
They are green, which fits with her brand
CONVENTION5: Layout
Large layered image of Billie just below the top links
There is a blue tint to this image
If I was creating Billie Eilish’s website, I would use a more creative image, much like Lorde website,
with the main picture being very ambiguous
Or another option would be to tease upcoming music/projects
CONVENTION6: Main Sections
So the top links are home, this page
Then music, then store, sign up, documentary, book, vote
Vote stands out as it is blue, like the image below, whereas the rest are green. Although this is a bit out of
date, as the elections have already been completed, it is still a very unique choice. Although there are
unconventional times when artists involve politics in their brand (for example sinead O’Connor, who
ripped up a picture of the pope live on tv)
Next up we will look at book
I am surprised this hasn’t been highlighted on her social media more, and even on this website, as it is her
newest project. This page clearly contrasts from the rest of the site, implying the book might take a step
away from dark pop, and be a bit more personal.
Next we have a Link to her documentary trailer on youtube. This is that video…
This video has a very similar vibe to her music and dark pop image, with the loud bass being prominent,
and her usual white, black and green colour scheme
Next we have sign up. This is a standard top link on most conventional websites, which is simply used to
send out emails.
3. Next I will look at her music section. This is quite similar to a website I researched by Lana del Rey. The
music sections come us as the single covers, in squares, and when you hover over them, it offers to take
you to this link…
CONVENTION7: Merchandise
The final convention is merchandise. Once again, like Lana del Rey, it takes you to a separate link,
however the difference between Billie’s websites and Lana’s is that Billie’s keeps the same theme,
whereas Lanas changed themes
Billie has a wide range of merchandise, which we will look at doing as well. She has some bizarre items,
like a puzzle
And the doll
