VARIOUS ACTIVITIES TAKEN UP AT DIET
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) is an apex academic body at District
level in the field of education. There are seven departments in DIET namely Pre Service
Teacher Education(PSTE),In service Field Interaction and Coordination(IFIC),District
Resource Unit(DRU),Work Experience(WE),Curriculum and Material Development
Evaluation(CMDE),Educational Technology(ET) and Planning and Management(PM).
In fact it is an upgraded institution from teacher training institute into DIET as per
recommendations of National Policy on Education 1986.In brief it is not confined to pre
service training alone but its scope is extended to education, resources, development, field
interaction , evaluation, use of modern technology, lab area and close knitting with the
society. Hence there is a wide scope for development in chosen area of requirement and
interest. There is ample scope to into the society to explore the needs and plan for the
requirements by conducting surveys and research studies also.
Principal is the head of the Institute and he can develop like anything with team spirit. In
short ,he is the think tank and acts dynamically tapping resources for the development .With
the same spirit of innovation, and involvement I developed the institutes where I worked as
Principal DIET.
National Gold Star award was given to DIET Raychoty during the year 2004 where I
developed the Institute
Construction of Compound wall.
The Institute was not having compound wall and I have seen few encroachments .Hence I
decided to see that there should be compound wall not only to arrest encroachment by
antisocial elements but to have protection to the women trainees residing in the hostels .There
are paucity of funds in the department. Even then I did not mind it and approached the
District Collector and submitted the need for compound wall explaining in detail and
convinced by submitting the estimates by tapping the services of Engineers locally. t was
constructed by allotting nearly thirteen lac rupees from the funds available with District
Collector which is not small amount at that time .It is a great success for the institute which
was not having compound wall for nearly more than fifty years and thus saved from grabbing
of public property apart from extending safety measure.
Additional Facilities for Hostels
Similarly Girls Hostel was developed by constructing additional rooms, repairs, was
sanctioned with the recommendation of the District Collector from RWS funds.
Construction of Additional Rooms from departmental Fund
Estimates were prepared with the assistance of local government engineers and submitted
to the department for approval and the department was kind enough by sanctioning rupees
nineteen lacs for construction of 5 additional class rooms with the initiation and
commitment
Leveling of the Ground.
Once the compound wall was constructed, the leveling of the play ground was taken next
step with the support from the staff and students. The services of students were utilized under
work experience in leveling and cleaning of the grounds, thereby attracted and resulted in
conducting of State level Kabaddy Games. It also given additional benefits of inviting local
dignitaries and state level officers to the Institute and there by developed good rapport for
further development of the institute.
Clean and Green programmes
Clean and Green Programmes were implemented extensively in DIET. There are very less
greenery in and around the DIET and hence tree plantation was taken up getting plants free
of cost from social forest department. All most all officers planted at least one plant whenever
they visited DIET on some occasion or other.
classrooms for Primary Urdu school,. Telugu school and High School
Funds were tapped from SSA for the construction of classrooms for urdu medium
elementary school. Similarly additional class rooms were constructed with the funds from
SSA .as the old classrooms were not sufficient .Similarly additional classrooms were
constructed with the SSA funds for high school section also. Thus a little initiation and bent
of mind made more physical facilities
DIET Rayachoty was educational complex of institute having pre primary, primary(urdu),
Primary(Telugu),High School, Training section of Telugu Medium, Urdu Medium,
Coordinator for extension services of primary education under the control of Principal ,DIET.
The principal with all his initiation made them to work for optimum results by treating all the
sections in an integrated manner and they are not water tight compartments.
Enrichment of Infrastructure
Information Technology is playing a vital role in the present day scenario. Hence there is a
great need to equip the institute with the modern equipment. Hence Lap Tap.LCD Projector,
Vedio Cameras, Computers, Printers, Fax machine, digital cameras, Scanners, Public
addressing system, Colour Printers, Vacum cleaners etc were purchased along with
necessary gadgets to cope up with latest developments thereby accelerated the pace of
learning by utilizing the equipment.
DIET was made within the access to all
All steps were taken and seen that DIET is available for all those to utilize for the
development in their fields and also it was made access to all to utilize the services of DIET
whenever they require. Accordingly the big Hall constructed during British regime was
utilized by different officers in the district including the Dist Collector and thereby mutual
support system existed for the development of DIET Several programmes, seminars and
meetings were conducted in DIET by so many officers.
Health Education Programmes.
Weekly health education programmes by Dr.Mantena Suryanarayana Raju were conducted
following Health for All which was benifitted even to common man by doing social
service activities regularly according to the convenience of the guest.
Blood Identification and donation Camps
Free blood identification camps were conducted by inviting NGO for the benefit of
students and staff. Later some of the volunteers from staff and students came to donate blood
for the common cause of good.
Aids Prevention Education Programmes
There are some belts prone to Aids such as Galiveedu and T.Sundupalle Mandals nearer to
the DIET and hence awareness camps were conducted and the staff members were
participated to generate awareness among the public.
Consumer center opened in DIET
Principal was actively participated in consumer awareness programmes in the entire district
and the rights of consumers. Later with all efforts it was possible to open Consumer centre at
DIET level with the cooperation of Coordinator. Appreciation certificates were also given by
the District Collector for the initiation and efforts taken in this regard.
Consulting Services
Consulting services in the field of education on several issues and problems were extended
to the benefit of parents, teachers, resource persons, officers in education department and
others as suggested by the Dist.Collector for common good.
Academic Improvements
Is seen that the results are not highly satisfactory with D.Ed section and not achieving cent
per cent results. Hence proper care and extra inputs rendered 100 % results in the next years.
Improvement of SSC results
Adaptation of High Schools Mandalwise by the academic staff working DIET improved
SSC results in forthcoming years duly visiting schools frequently and on the spot guidance to
the teachers and students. which was appreciated by Dist.Education Officer also. It is to be
noted that the DIET is not confined to training of teachers alone, but to improve the levels of
education at school level also.
BALASAHITHI PEETHAM
All DIETs were given an opportunity to develop children literature or use in elementary
schools .After involving in development of children literature and experience it was thought
to have centre of development in literature and other areas and thus one centre was
established for the development of literature for all kinds of students, which is really a
remarkable aspect.
Flexibility in using the equipment
The high school section also allowed to use the equipment available in DIET for the use of
High school Students and staff. The optimum utilization of equipment and resources yield
good and encouraging results.
Use of Library.
Library is opened for all the students and books were issued to needy children without any
discrimination. Extra working hours at the disposal of students was enriching their
knowledge
Co-curricular Activities
Principle of sound mind in sound body was followed in physical education using available
play ground. The DIET trainees bagged prizes thrice at state level and received memontos.a
nd news was also flashed at state level with the photos of students.
NSS Activities, health education activities, removal of child Labour programmes ,Road
safety programmes, National Green Core activities, Enrolment drive ,pulse polio
programmes,
celebration of National festivals of importance and other similar social and cultural activities
extensively on appropriate occasions
Yoga Training
The training received at BrahmaKumaries at Mount Abu, made us to implement Yoga
classes for the students. Local expert in yoga was also invited for taking classes is an
encouraging aspect for the students
Non monitory programmes
Usually the training programmes for in service teachers. and other field functionaries are
being conducted with the funds released by the department or by other funding agencies .But
the programmes were conducted without incurring government .funds by encouraging the
teacher to participate at their mandal headquarters only and the staff of DIET attending at
Mandal level only instead of inviting them to DIET and their by saving the money and time.
The RJDSE ,Cuddapah has appreciated the efforts taken by the Principal in conducting
nonmonetary programmes.
Publications
DIET has published successfully the news letters and magazines utilizing the services of
students and staff and got appreciation at all levels. Some of the staff members were given an
opportunity to write work books at state level also. Resource persons were also drafted from
the DIET which is recognition.
Ganita Sammelan
There is phobia among students that mathematics is a tuff subject for no reasons. Hence
programmes on mathematics made easy are conducted inviting experts even from faraway
places also and contributions.
All India Radio Programmes
The resources of AIR were utilized inviting the Programme executives for recording and
broadcasting the educational programmes developed or conducted at DIET level
.Programmes were also broadcasted developed by the principal by AIR, Cuddapah regularly
which gives a feedback for further progress.
DIAL YOUR DIET

workers, community workers, and others who need some service or clarification or guidance
can contact DIET and get immediate response. Two hours are allocated between 12.00PM to

Various activities taken up at diet

  • 1. VARIOUS ACTIVITIES TAKEN UP AT DIET District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) is an apex academic body at District level in the field of education. There are seven departments in DIET namely Pre Service Teacher Education(PSTE),In service Field Interaction and Coordination(IFIC),District Resource Unit(DRU),Work Experience(WE),Curriculum and Material Development Evaluation(CMDE),Educational Technology(ET) and Planning and Management(PM). In fact it is an upgraded institution from teacher training institute into DIET as per recommendations of National Policy on Education 1986.In brief it is not confined to pre service training alone but its scope is extended to education, resources, development, field interaction , evaluation, use of modern technology, lab area and close knitting with the society. Hence there is a wide scope for development in chosen area of requirement and interest. There is ample scope to into the society to explore the needs and plan for the requirements by conducting surveys and research studies also. Principal is the head of the Institute and he can develop like anything with team spirit. In short ,he is the think tank and acts dynamically tapping resources for the development .With the same spirit of innovation, and involvement I developed the institutes where I worked as Principal DIET. National Gold Star award was given to DIET Raychoty during the year 2004 where I developed the Institute Construction of Compound wall. The Institute was not having compound wall and I have seen few encroachments .Hence I decided to see that there should be compound wall not only to arrest encroachment by antisocial elements but to have protection to the women trainees residing in the hostels .There are paucity of funds in the department. Even then I did not mind it and approached the District Collector and submitted the need for compound wall explaining in detail and convinced by submitting the estimates by tapping the services of Engineers locally. t was constructed by allotting nearly thirteen lac rupees from the funds available with District Collector which is not small amount at that time .It is a great success for the institute which was not having compound wall for nearly more than fifty years and thus saved from grabbing of public property apart from extending safety measure. Additional Facilities for Hostels Similarly Girls Hostel was developed by constructing additional rooms, repairs, was sanctioned with the recommendation of the District Collector from RWS funds. Construction of Additional Rooms from departmental Fund Estimates were prepared with the assistance of local government engineers and submitted to the department for approval and the department was kind enough by sanctioning rupees nineteen lacs for construction of 5 additional class rooms with the initiation and commitment Leveling of the Ground. Once the compound wall was constructed, the leveling of the play ground was taken next step with the support from the staff and students. The services of students were utilized under work experience in leveling and cleaning of the grounds, thereby attracted and resulted in conducting of State level Kabaddy Games. It also given additional benefits of inviting local dignitaries and state level officers to the Institute and there by developed good rapport for further development of the institute.
