L'Oréal is the largest cosmetics
company in the world, with offices in
130 countries, which accounts for
2,900 employees. They have 24
offices around the world, which
means different languages are
spoken daily. On one hand, that is
amazing when it comes to diversity
and being inclusive. On the other,
that can create a major language
barrier between coworkers and
consumers. I have been tasked to
not only update all databases, but to
start the first ever L'Oréal Language
Initiative.
4. 4
The importance of
communication is often
overlooked. It is arrogant to
believe that one can travel the
world and expect all of
mankind to understand his or
her native tongue. Therefore,
being able to communicate
directly with new clients and
coworkers in their native
language is one of the first
steps to founding a lasting,
stable international business
relationship.
5. 5
L'Oréal have three strategies in
place right now – Online
Academy Coursera, E-Learning,
and 6-month Development.
Problem: All these strategies are
great, but it’s based on what the
employee wants.
Solution: Make language
learning needs non-negotiable.

Well, we have made it out alive.
Whether you decide to take the
traditional route only, combine
traditional with new technology, or
even switch over exclusively to just
using new technology; this initiative
is not just another “omg why” one. I
have laid out why it’s so important in
learning another language, whether
for personal reasons or work. I hope
you have enjoyed this, learned
something, and will be excited for it
to start.

Just wanted to say that the reason I didn’t insert foreign language slides is that it started to take away
from the presentation…
