For our Story Remix project, I chose to remix F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby." I decided to do a video/powerpoint presentation (with audio) that tells the story of "The Great Gatsby" if it were to take place in 2020.

CHARACTERS
***DISCLAIMER: One part of The
Great Gatsby that is not covered in
this version of the story is the
original’s symbols. For more on
symbolism in the original version of
Gatsby, check out this link.
Other Disclaimer: Yes, I’m using
photos/gifs from the movie because it’s
beautiful and I love Leonardo DiCaprio.
And for my sake, please pretend the party
clips are in a club and not a mansion.
7. “He smiled understandingly—much more than
understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a
quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come
across four or five times in life. It faced—or seemed to face—
the whole eternal world for an instant, and then
concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your
favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be
understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in
yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the
impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.”
– Nick Carraway on meeting Jay Gatsby

we don’t play in
traffic, folks
16. Old Money
- Inherited family wealth
- Probably plays polo or golf or something
- Pretty cynical people if you ask me
- Considered to be the highest of social class
New Money
- No one really knows where their money came from
- Loves to throw down on Saturday nights
- Young in high-class society, has few connections
- Seen as inferior to Old Money
They look the same, right? Not the same
17. You guessed it – the American Dream
George Wilson
A man who was born poor
is born behind in the race
to success. The American
Dream was never in reach
for this poor guy.
Tom Buchanan
A man who was born into money
and is, in effect, a product of the
American Dream due to his
ancestral inheritance.
Jay Gatsby
If anyone here has gotten
close to having it all and
living the American
Dream, it’s this guy. And
even he couldn’t even
attain it.
