2. In my film opening a variety of social groups and social representations have
been characterized, this is to give the film a sense of character and life. My
characters have all been presented with having different qualities and
personalities. For example my main character ‘Ronnie’ has been shown as
being strong, powerful, loving and determined. This gets portrayed by the
camera angles and his positioning within his movements. At the beginning of
the opening I use an over the shoulder shot following Ronnie, this immediately
shows him as in power as he is controlling the editing. We can also see the film
is being set in present day due to his clothing, (trainers, hoodie, t-shirt), this
also shows the age group 20-40. The continuous shot at an eye level angle of
Ronnie represents him at a equal society level as everyone else. Ronnie is a
loving family man that is just a general member of the local society, who has a
wife and daughter, however he has had a bad past that included prison and
many bad run ins with experienced criminals. However this now shadows his
present life and he is moving on trying to improve his reputation and keep out
of bad trouble. This social group is a fairly signified one which has minimum
people in. This is because it has such a specific journey and specialities.

3. Many viewers would be proud of Ronnie and the journey he has taken, this is
because he has overcome a very powerful problem that he once had, that could
also be classed as an addiction to many people. Some Viewers could relate to
Ronnie’s problem which could make it even more personal. I have decided to
represent Ronnie is this way because it is such a personal story, that many people
go through in that particular social group, it may increase audiences attention and
make them want to listen more and interact with the characters by continuing to
watch it.
My target audience are males aged between 15-40, I feel that this links with
Ronnie’s life story conveniently because of the high gang and crime rate within
this age group in the recent years, this story may influence and warn young adults
to get out of crime and start following Ronnie’s foot steps in becoming a better
person within the local society. It also may help people recovering from being in
gangs or hooked up in crime, show them that they can overcome violence and be
the better person.

4. Focusing on other characters, we notice at the beginning a character about to fire a
gun. The character is positioned in front of the camera facing away in an over the
shoulder shot, this enforces his role in being a criminal as it suggests he wants to be
hidden and in disguise. There was also a low angle shot looking up to this character,
this suggests he has higher authority over others (thinks he does), and likes to be
better than everyone else, this also reinforces his particular social group, as most
criminals think they are better than everyone else and have more power.
The way this character is dressed portrays the stereotypical assumptions of a
criminal. The hat that he is wearing is used to stay in disguise and hidden, the dark
clothing is also used for these reasons. The stereotypical look for young teenagers
and gangs, is to wear all black, or dark colours so they all fit into the same category.
This reinforces my target audience, as we can see once again that this character is
gang related. My audience of young males will really enjoy the excitement of
violence and mysterious crime.
