1. Analysis of Genre Daniel Harrison
In his book Narrative and Genre: Key Concepts in Media Studies, (Palgrave, Macmillan), Nick Lacey
defines genre elements as constituting the 5 key areas below:

The main protagonist is Liam Neeson which is star theory he has a dark
past that is shown by the flash back being in black and white . We know
he is an ex-cop who shot a child be mistake , The music is smooth
sounding when he is on screen this means that he is an killer but really
he has a good heart .
There is an antagonist in the trailer which we do not know the name of
him but we know that he does want to be a part of the abductors
anymore
There is an innocent young girl who plays the role as the damsel in
distrust this is shown by the way she is wears bright red clothing that
shines about the other colours this might relate to the little red riding
hood story
There is also a man who has paid the main character to kill the people
who killed his wife which might mean it is a revenge story

All of these things affect to show us the genra because it has a lot of iconic items for example guns
and alcohol which makes us think that it is and action thriller. With the charter personally of the

Target audience
I believe that the target audience of walk amongst the tome stones would be male age 16 to 30
this is because it has a lot of guns which is used a lot to attract the younger audience. Also there is
not really a strong female character so I don’t think it would attract as many females. I think that
the main class that it is aimed at would be working class and middle class .I think that the main sort
of class that would watch this movie and who the trailer are aimed at are D and C class but it would
also attract other classes of people .
Summary
This movies trailer has worked very well in order to entice people into watching this movie. They
have made the trailer to intrigue male audience between the ages of 15 to 40 but there are some
aspects that may grab the attention of females. The first thing that happens that might attract
people into watching the movie is we can see the main actor Liam Neesan which is star theory .This
will attract a lot of the people who have watched taken and liked it . This will gather a large audience
because people will think that it will be just like taken. The second thing that I notice that might grab
attention is the plot of the movie straight away we can a narration about the main characters mi son
scene that shows us that he has done something that got him kicked of the force for it . Then it
tells us that he is an unlicensed private detective this shows us that he will be doing things outside
of the law this shows that there will be a lot of valance . Also strength of the back of the trailer there
was a shootout this shows that there are probably going to be a lot of guns and shooting this
usually draws in the younger audience as well as the older. We can also see that the setting on the
movie is in new York which is a common place where action movies are usually done
At the 52 second mark we can tell what the main story line is that he has been hired to kill a group
of guys who have killed his contractor’s wife. Although this is a very cliché plot line it still does well
to entice people into watching it this , it also make us wonder what will happen if he will get these
guys or not ,who are they and why they killed his contractors wife .It also shows that these
kidnappers are smart and that they have been following her for a while this shows that it will be

hard for the main character to find these people .The lighting in the trailer is very dark this is used
to show that it is a dark story this will attract people who are looking for a sad action movie.
The music is also very dramatic and adds a lot of tension this makes people want to watch the
movie because it makes them think what will happen next also since the song is both upbeat and
slow it shows the movie will have both action and drama this will be able to attract two types of
people .At the end of the trailer there is a guy who appears to left the kidnappers group because
they was going too far , although he seems to want to help he would not give information how to
find the kidnappers and then jumped off a building . This has us wondering what is he so afraid of
that he would prefer to take his own life than to betray them. There is also a girl in a red coat in
the trailer we still do not know who she is and what she has to do with the plot but there is defiantly
a little red riding hood reference in there this will make people want to know who she is.
