2. Abstract
The following provides a detailed comparison into Ergonomic assessments within
Industry, with the aim of preventing work place injuries. The objectives of this project
were to analyse a large number of operator roles within Jaguar Land Rover and in
doing so use iterative design to develop several ergonomic tools to improve the ease
of use and quality of completion. By doing so the aim of the improved ergonomic
tools is to reduce the musculoskeletal disorder risk to employees. The use of a range
of developed assessments and ergonomic tools to assess current production tasks
both in the new model programme development and in the workplace has over time
led to a reduction in the physical risk factors that employees are subject to on a daily
basis. However, the user friendliness of these tools can have an impact on the
safety of the work force through incorrect use. Going forward, the methods used in
assessing jobs within Jaguar Land Rover will continue to evolve and include iterative
design reviews to help maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
