1. Taller de Practicas Docente – Gieser Leticia – Cavagnaro Kinder
Kinder 4 Period
Class: ‘The frogs’ – Cavagnaro Kinder
This is a group of 28 children (in this case, 4 years old kids) present learning
characteristics which are different from older students.
First of all, this group showed themselves very curious, actives and talkative.
However, as it is known, in this age the exploration of their environment is an
essential part of their everyday life, this allows them to discover and know the
world that surrounds them. As they are active, they enjoy moving around and
always show kinaesthetic characteristics, thus the body movement, gestures, videos,
songs to move, and all the activities that imply the use of their body will help to
catch their attention at the moment of doing a class.
In my experience with this group, I could get an advantage of the willingness to
learn very young children have, as they were predispose to participate and interact
with me. They reacted very excited when I played videos where they had to dance
or at the moment of playing board games as Domino. However, I have to recognize,
that they used to have different classes, without any board game, so it was quite
hard present every one, made that they respected their turn, or used English when
they saw the flashcards. I loved motivating kids with the usage of different
resources to teach them.
Related with their psychological development and as I studied during the career in
Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, they are in the pre-operational stage. They
are not able to work abstractly, so taking this into account, I developed my classes
using tangible and concrete material. Also it is important contextualize every video
or activity to develop them correctly and use the proper vocabulary to facilitate its
understanding. Of that way, the students could feel secure and comfortable at the
moment of playing or participated; this is essential for teachers to create strong
emotional bond with the kids.
