To Whom It May Concern
My name is Katherine Schifferle and I am currently a Business Marketing Professor
at the California State University in Chico. (Include any and all other qualifications
here that I may not know about).
Over the course of a semester, Lauren Silvers worked with me as my Teachers
Assistant for the Survey of Marketing class during the Fall of 2013. This is an upper
division course and is designed to be taken by Junior standing students, although it
can be used as a pre-requisite for other students. In this course the students learn
the nature of marketing systems, marketing in the individual firm, the study of the
marketing mix, marketing institutions, and the environments in which marketing
decisions are made.
I designed this course a bit differently, which involved my students interacting in an
online virtual marketing simulation where they were put into teams, asked to create
a product, and then adjust their product as well as their marketing tactics
throughout the course of the semester to see how their changes would affect their
overall profit. Throughout the course of the semester, Ms. Silvers was responsible
for grading written homework assignments, submitting grades to each student,
checking attendance, and helping proctor all exams. Additionally, Ms. Silvers was
asked to address any emails sent by the student who had questions regarding a
particular grade they received, and explain in detail why they received that grade
and how to improve for next time. Along with these responsibilities, Ms. Silvers and
I collaborated on a weekly basis about how each student was doing, what the
strengths and weaknesses of the class simulation were, and brainstormed new ideas
of how to better improve the simulation.
Lauren is an exceptional TA. She is hardworking, reliable, honest, never misses a
deadline, is always flexible with any schedule, takes on projects at any moments
notice, and truly knows what she is doing and talking about when it comes to the
field of marketing. I believe she would make an excellent addition to your company.
She is the type of employee who is always one step ahead of the game, an innovative
thinker, and a very responsible and proactive individual.
Please feel free to contact me at (contact information) if you have any further
questions regarding Ms. Silvers.
