What is an influencer?
 A Social Media Influencer is: a user on social media who has established
credibility in a specific industry. A social media influencer has access to a
large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and
reach (Pixlee n.d.).
My focus is the
beauty industry
Beauty business
 2018 Zion Market Research
reported, “global cosmetic
products market was valued at
around USD 532 billion in 2017
and is expected to reach
approximately USD 863 billion in
2024….”
 Why?
 I think this growth is do to
influencers
Beauty influencers
 These popular influencers have used
their platforms and talents to sway
the public opinion.
 Jeffery star: Started his successful
cosmetic brand worth $50 million
 Patrick starr: has collaborated with
MAC cosmetics a well known brand
 Jackie Ania: Worked with several
brands and help to expand the
foundation line of Born this way
 Their marketing abilities
 According to Crestodina’s Content marketing
influencer marketing as, “marketing that focusses on
the key people who have already built the audience
you want to reach” (pp. 213)
 The ability for business to use the large following and
trust that the influencer’s already have to promote
their product or service.
 The word of several influences has the power make or
brake a product.
What makes
them valuable?
What does this mean?
 In the past many people gain inspiration from well known and like celebraties
 Now, however, everyday people are becoming celebrities because of the
advice and guidance they give, as well as their persona
 Example: Cardi B. While not in the cosmetic industry her well liked persona
has lead her to partnerships with Fashion Nova an online clothing brand
Analysis
 S: They have access to costumers as
well as their trust. They are an
excellent source of information and
ideas.
 W: You rely on the influencer heavily.
 They have to make interesting
consistent content.
 O: They speak to and not at the viewers
 There is room to grow
 T: The trend can vanish and influencers
can lose popularity
 The choices of the influences can
look bad on the brand and vice
versa

  • 2. What is an influencer?  A Social Media Influencer is: a user on social media who has established credibility in a specific industry. A social media influencer has access to a large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and reach (Pixlee n.d.).

  • 4. Beauty business  2018 Zion Market Research reported, “global cosmetic products market was valued at around USD 532 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach approximately USD 863 billion in 2024….”  Why?  I think this growth is do to influencers
  • 5. Beauty influencers  These popular influencers have used their platforms and talents to sway the public opinion.  Jeffery star: Started his successful cosmetic brand worth $50 million  Patrick starr: has collaborated with MAC cosmetics a well known brand  Jackie Ania: Worked with several brands and help to expand the foundation line of Born this way
  • 6.  Their marketing abilities  According to Crestodina’s Content marketing influencer marketing as, “marketing that focusses on the key people who have already built the audience you want to reach” (pp. 213)  The ability for business to use the large following and trust that the influencer’s already have to promote their product or service.  The word of several influences has the power make or brake a product. What makes them valuable?

What does this mean?  In the past many people gain inspiration from well known and like celebraties  Now, however, everyday people are becoming celebrities because of the advice and guidance they give, as well as their persona  Example: Cardi B. While not in the cosmetic industry her well liked persona has lead her to partnerships with Fashion Nova an online clothing brand
  • 8. Analysis  S: They have access to costumers as well as their trust. They are an excellent source of information and ideas.  W: You rely on the influencer heavily.  They have to make interesting consistent content.  O: They speak to and not at the viewers  There is room to grow  T: The trend can vanish and influencers can lose popularity  The choices of the influences can look bad on the brand and vice versa
