gentlemen offered her love. One of the suitors was Kauen, son of a wealthy
Rajah in the neighboring kingdom. The young man offered precious jewels
and gold but the young woman refused the gift. Kanuen was disappointed
but still boasted that the girl would be his one day.
4. From distant Tagalog, Gat Malaya heard the news of Daragang Magayon's beauty. He had many
opportunities to listen to the muse but there were obstacles. Once, near a s.mall river, the girl was seen
picking flowers. Later, the young lady paddled in the stream. The young man played the melody of a happy
