Lana has spent much of her professional
life writing, editing, and proofing medical
and scientific communications. Her years
of experience in clinical, educational, and
marketing departments of hospitals, plus
five years in medical sales, uniquely
position her to understand and write for
many audiences.
Lana’s expertise in distilling complex information into understandable concepts for all levels of
audiences makes her in demand for many projects, including: articles for peer-reviewed medical and
scientific journals, grant applications, CME/CE programs, pharmaceutical representatives’ training,
and other training programs for medical students and allied health professionals. Her clients include
Eli Lilly & Company, Roche Diagnostics, Pfizer, Forest Labs, Novartis, Elsevier, Springer Science,
Wolters Kluwer/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Science Publishers, the International Society of Bipolar
Disorders, Nursing Oncology Society, United Health Services, and research departments at major
medical schools across the country.
Lana has extensive experience in writing for cardiology, hematology, immunology, neurology,
oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, physical medicine & rehabilitation,
psychiatry, pulmonology, preventive care, rheumatology, holistic care, and social services. With her
background as a clinical laboratory scientist, Lana is equipped to write for virtually any therapeutic
area. She also writes routinely for scientific and translational research.
Lana has written chapters for seven medical textbooks, three pocket guides for primary care
physicians, and podcast scripts for neurology/neurosurgery and psychiatry. She has coauthored
three books on health care trends and has also written numerous DVD scripts on medical topics for
lay audiences. Her expertise runs the gamut of marketing, technical, and scientific writing for print,

While working in the education department of a large healthcare conglomerate, Lana developed and
taught many writing and communications classes, as well as self-paced cross-training programs for
staff at all levels. In developing marketing campaigns to promote her department’s training programs,
she honed both her writing and design skills. In Jan. 2010, Briefings Media Group (now Columbia
House) published her book, Proofread Like a Pro, an offshoot of her years of writing experience.
Lana is a member of the American Medical Writers Association and the National Federation of Press
Women. She has a BS in Medical Technology and an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling.
