4. Lakeland College Bookstore
Create a new design for
the college bookstore
that provided display
for a variety of items
such as clothing,
textbooks, and art. The
aesthetic had to be
improved, but the small
town feel of the college
needed to be
considered.
5. Lakeland College Bookstore
This project included a set of AutoCAD
drawings, a full SketchUp model, and elevations
with sections of all custom millwork.
7. Trout Pond- Sustainable Home Project
As a partner project,
we were to survey an
existing site and
design a 2800sqft.
home for a middle-
aged couple looking
for an age-in-place
home that had
sustainable design
features.
8. Trout Pond-Sustainable Home Project
The idea of the project was to design a home that is based off modern and Japanese
design. Inspired by the hill on the build site, we built the home in three levels, integrating it into
the hill. Each of the levels contained a different level of privacy public, semi-private, and a
private master suite. Each level has its own balcony that looks out onto the pond. Teams
submitted AutoCAD drawings, renderings, a material board, and a -0 scale model.
10. Homemade - Retail Project
Design a mall retail
location of your
choice. Homemade
sells natural beauty
products that can be
seen being made in-
house and tested in an
atmosphere that is
relaxing to young women
and mothers.
12. Homemade - Retail Project
The left side of the store has the quartz consultation and cash desk with pendant lights for
task lighting. The right side has the product shelving and storage made with an oak veneer and
chalkboard edge. The back of the store has a pass through that shows the kitchen where the
products are made. The exposed ceiling has wooden frames suspended to help create a vining
effect with artificial plants. The deliverables included a full set of AutoCAD drawings,
concept sketching, SketchUp Model, and a perspective image that is edited with Photoshop.
13. Homemade - Retail Project
The final perspective
image was to be generated
in SketchUp and then have
shadows lightened or
deepened, highlights and
illusions of depth added
using Photoshop tools.
14. The Lab- Restaurant Project
Design a restaurant in
downtown Vancouver of
your choice. The Lab is
based off the concept of
science and serves food
that focuses on molecular
gastronomy. The
atmosphere is clean,
simple, and inviting, with
subtle references to the
science behind the food.
15. The Lab Restaurant Project
The space required 50 seats, plus those on the deck, an open kitchen, bar with seating for
0, coat closet, a variety of booth, banquette, and table seating, and both mens and womens
washrooms. The unusual shape meant that the designers needed to be creative with the
different seating styles. Focal points of the space include the 4-person L-shaped bar with
light up shelves, large graphics of famous chemists, the open kitchen, bold pendant lights,
and geometric ceiling features that are backlit with LEDs.
16. The Lab- Restaurant Project
The overall design and finish specifications were left to the designer.
Overall, the space is black and white, with pops of colour to add
interest but not distract from the food that is being featured. The
deliverables included a full set of AutoCAD drawings, menu design
using InDesign, SketchUp Model, and perspective images that are
edited with Photoshop.
