3. HCC Certification Program – Photoshop CS6
In Design Presentation we utilize graphic programs such as Adobe Creative Suite CS6 and
Sketch Up to advance our abilities to create renderings, like the one shown above. The elevation
above was created using Photoshop CS6. I utilized FF&E materials available in today’s market
and incorporated highlights and drop shadows to produce the lifelike image.
4. HCC Certification Program – Universal Design
Among many other things my Kitchen and Bath Design course taught us the Seven Principles of
Universal Design and how to incorporate them. This assignment required me to take my existing
bathroom and redesign it incorporating these principles. This layout integrates Equitable in Use,
Flexibility in Use, Low Physical Effort and Size and Space for Approach and Use.
5. HCC Certification Program – Kitchen Design
Along with the Seven
Principal of Universal
Design in Kitchen and
Bath Design we
learned the drafting
standards of NKBA.
The layout and
elevations pictured
above illustrate the
redesign of a once 8’x8’
kitchen located in a
1950s home in the
Houston, TX
neighborhood of Third
Ward. By removing
existing walls and
relocating windows I
was able to create an
open and functional
kitchen with plenty of
storage.
7. Myers Park Charlotte, NC Residence- Kitchen Design
This Myers Park residence involved a major over haul and as a team we addressed the
kitchen, desk area, wet bar and laundry space. This growing family of five needed a
more functional space that would lend itself to everyday living and entertaining, while
making sure to compliment this million-dollar property. Our General Contractor and
I worked in conjunction with the client’s existing General Contractor to create a new
layout, install custom cabinetry throughout, include professional appliances and create
a warm and welcoming color scheme by incorporating bronze fixtures, a vibrant
granite countertop, seafoam wall color and refinished red oak floors.

redesigned kitchen. The island serves as a landing zone for the multiple work areas in case of
overflow when preparing larger meals.

The multiple “rooms” [kitchen, office and casual dining] created in this space allows the
client’s larger family to function in multiple capacities all in one space.

Cabinet Finish Backsplash Quartz Faucet
This Dilworth home was originally built in the 1950’s and the
kitchen had not been updated since the 1980’s. In this renovation I
addressed all the surfaces in the space; cabinets, countertop,
backsplash, appliances, and the electrical and plumbing fixtures as
well. The rough electrical and plumbing required replaced in order
to meet local county code and create a safe and efficient working
space.

Originally, this space was nonfunctional and plagued by the restricted
foot print. The lack of storage and lack of natural light left the space to
be less than desirable. Changing appliance placement, partially
removing a cabinet wall to create bar seating and adding pantry storage
with a countertop cabinet solved these issues and created an open and
welcoming space. As the designer I created the cabinetry layout, worked
with the client on material selection and assisted her through
installation even though an independent installer was used.

so much more and my friends and family
love it. Cara was such a joy to work with.”

A few years prior the client had the opportunity to redo her kitchen
space, but felt like the public space was still incomplete. As a team
we addressed her guest bath and the niche left of her fire place. The
goal with the changes was to create a relaxed space for the client to
come home to daily and for her guests to enjoy, while adding more
functional storage. Working with the client to create a tile pattern
and additional storage became our primary focus.

difference in my everyday life. Cannot wait to
do my master bath with Cara.” – Cynthia

My client and her fiancé recently
purchased a new home and
decided to redo their home from
top to bottom. The kitchen was
the most important room for the
client so she sought out a
designer in order to ensure the
space was well design. I designed
her kitchen layout and 3D
renderings using 20/20 design
program. High-end cabinetry,
professional
appliances, and
lots of storage
space were the
most important
features to the
client. Once
completed, the
kitchen served as
the hub of the
home.

23. Asthma and Allergy Specialist of Baxter Village - Senior Thesis
This undertaking focused on the design of a
sustainable asthma and allergy clinic in neighborhood
of Baxter Village located in Fort Mill, SC.
Incorporating sustainable elements was fundamental
to design of this facility. The concept of Asthma and
Allergy Specialist was inspired by the fact that the
expense of assisted living increases yearly, parents are
having children later in life and adults are living longer
than ever. The exponential growth in three
generational homes are the result of these factors.

29. Headquarters was designed to be located in Chicago, Illinois. The
American cuisine restaurant was inspired by both traditional and modern
fire stations located all over the world. When attempting this project, a
concept of who Headquarters was as a company had to be developed first.
Headquarters is a place that gives the young consumer a place to enjoy a
night out no matter what type of environment they prefer. The first floor
features a dance area with stage, group areas, and private couple seating.
The second floor lounge offers a laid back atmosphere conducive to small
and intimate group gatherings.

Configuration One
Mod5 was designed with Charlotte,
NC’s art district, Noda in mind. This
retail space functions as a gallery during
the day and as a social space at night.
Creating a multifunctional space allows
this gallery to be relative to the various
needs of Noda throughout the day and
into the evening. This design includes
two
configurations
in order to be
functional for
the day time

33. Slide’s design was inspired
by the city of Kahuku,
Honolulu. Though the space
is small, the design allows
the space to serve as a
functional retail space and as
an off shore surfboard rental
shop. In the main area of the
retail space a custom cash
wrap is featured. In the
secondary area the garage
has been converted into the
surfboard rental shop, which
features a custom logo wall.
The vibrant color scheme
used in this space mimics the
lively atmosphere of
Honolulu.
