3. PENGERTIAN DISIPLIN KELAS
A. MENURUT BAHASA
Disiplin berasal dari bahasa latin “Diciplina” yang menunjuk kepada kegiatan belajar dan mengajar.
Istilah tersebut sangat dekat dengan istilah dalam bahasa Inggris “Disciple” yang berarti mengikuti orang untuk
belajar di bawah pengawasan seorang pemimpin. Dalam kegiatan belajar tersebut, bawahan dilatih untuk
patuh dan taat pada peraturan-peraturan yang dibuat oleh pemimpinnya.
4. Kata disiplin berasal dari bahasa Yunani “Disciplus” yang artinya murid atau pengikut seorang guru.
Seorang murid atau pengikut harustunduk kepada peraturan, kepada otoritas gurunya.
Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, disiplin adalah tata tertib (di sekolah, kemiliteran, dan
sebagainya) ketaatan (kepatuhan) kepada peraturan tata tertib dan dan bidang studi yang dimiliki
obyek dan sistem tertentu.
5. B. MENURUT ISTILAH
Menurut Wyckoff Disiplin adalah sebagai proses belajar mengajar yang mengarah kepada
ketertiban dan pengendalian diri.
Disiplin menurut Djamarah adalah “suatu tata tertib yang dapat mengatur tatanan kehidupan
pribadi dan kelompok”
Menurut Naim Disiplin adalah sikap dalam menaati peraturan serta ketentuan yang berlaku
dan telah ditetapkan yang betujuan untuk mengembangkan diri agar dapat berperilaku tertib
6. Menurut Suharsimi Arikunto (dalam Chumdari dan Sutini 1996: 55) menyatakan bahwa
disiplin kelas adalah keadaan tertib dimana guru dan murid-murid yang tergabung dalam
suatu kelas tunduk kepada peraturan-peraturan (tata tertib) yang telah ditetapkan
dengan senang hati.
7. Jadi dapat di simpulkan disiplin kelas merupakan ketertiban atau aturan yang diakukan oleh subyek
pelaksana pendidikan atau pembimbing bagi anak didik di dalam kelas dengan jalan menaati peraturan-
peraturan yang telah ditetapkan atas dasar kesenangan dan kesadaran hati demi mencapai suatu
tujuan bersama.
