3. Educational Technology ?
Educational Technology is concerned with the
development, application, and evaluation of system,
techniques, and aids to improve the process of
human learning.
Educational technology is seen both as means as
well as service to effect and facilitate better and
more productive learning system.
4. Evolution of Educational
Technology
Erich Ashley (1967) has identified four revolutions in
education. They are;
First Revolution: Revolution of shifting the task of
educating the young ones from parents to teacher and
from home to schools.
Second Revolution: Revolution of adoption of the written
word as a tool of education.
5. Evolution of Educational
Technology
Third Revolution: Revolution as a result of invention
of printing and availability of books and other
teaching-learning material.
Fourth Revolution: Revolution on account of
development in electronic, chiefly involving radio,
television, cassette recorder and computer, and
development of systems concept.
6. Theories on Educational
Technology
“Educational Technology is concerned with the
application of modern skills and techniques to
requirements of education and training. This includes
the facilitation of learning by manipulation of media
and methods, and the control of environment so far as
this reflects on learning.”
- J. D. Unwin
7. Theories on Educational
Technology
“Educational Technology may be defined as the
application of the laws as well as the recent
discoveries of science and technology to the process of
education.”
- S.S. Kulkarni
10. Characteristics of Educational
Technology
1. It is bound to improve the teacher, the learner, and the
teaching-learning process.
2. It is based on scientific and technological advancements.
3. It is the science of techniques and methods, it locates the
problems in the field of education, remedies them, and
ultimately aims at improving the education system.
11. Characteristics of Educational
Technology
4. It is helpful in making the teaching process objective, clear,
easy, and interesting.
5. It is an important medium of communication.
12. Objectives of Educational
Technology
1. To identify educational needs and aspirations of the
learners.
2. To develop a suitable curriculum with interaction of
Science, Art, and Human values.
3. To develop appropriate aids and equipment to meet the
educational purposes.
13. Scope of Educational Technology
Educational Technology works in the planning and
organization of the system or subsystem of education. The
areas of its operation in education system is summarized
below;
1. To analyze the teaching-learning process
2. To identify the educational goals or objectives
3. Development of curriculum
4. Development of teaching-learning material
5. Effective utilization of the hardware and mass media
14. Objectives of Educational
Technology
4. To manage the whole educational system covering
planning, implementation and the evaluation phases.
5. To help in extending educational opportunities to the
masses especially the neglected section of the community.
16. Advantages of Educational
Technology
Technology is one of the most valuable tools that we have
available at our fingertips everyday. The contribution of
technology in education also uncountable one. The major
advantages of education are listed below;
1. Individualized Instruction
2. Improvement in the Quality of Teaching
3. Equalizing Educational Opportunity
4. Prepares Students for Future
5. Lowering Textbook and Tuition Prices
17. Forms of Educational Technology
Educational Technology has been capable of providing
necessary ways and means, theoretical as well as practical, for
improving the process and products of teaching-learning related
both formal and informal education. These forms of educational
technology, in general, can be classified as follows;
1. Teaching Technology
2. Instructional Technology
3. Behavioral Technology
4. Instructional Design Technology
Educational Technology is comprised of two words education and technology.
When we apply the science of learning and communication to teaching we evolve a technology.

5. For example, the implementation of inclusive education and free tuition fee in the Philippines
1. A teacher has to play the vital role of technician by learning the art and science of teaching.
The teacher must be equiiped with the tecnological skills, besides having a good knowledge or mastery over the subject matter.
2. This technology is meant for helping the instructor and the learner in the desired instructional task for the realization of the stipulated instructional objectives in a particular teaching-learning situation.
3.
4. A layout or plan describing the manner in which an instruction process should be carried out for attainment of the stipulated objectives.
So, basically, whenever we use our scientific knowledge to achieve some specific knowledge to achieve some specific purpose, we’re using technology. Well, slightly more to it than that.
Technology is use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes or applications, whether in industry or in our everyday lives.
