4. Assume suitable data wherever necessary
Q 1) Solve any one of following. (10)
a) Design spur gear drive transmitting 20 KW at 1440 rpm to another shaft.
Running approximately 400 rpm the load is medium shock at 8 to 10 Hr/Day.
The material used SAE 1045 heat treated for both pinion & gear. Select 20O full
depth profile. Check design for dynamic load & wear.
b) An elevator of a multistage building is to carries maximum load of 50 KW
through the height of 150 m. wire rope speed of 350 m/min is to be attained in
10 sec. assuming shock of 0.25 m during starting. Design suitable size of wire
rope for this elevator. Check the ropes for fatigue life check the strength sheave.
Q 2) Solve any One of following. (5)
a) Write down the design procedure for spur gear.
b) Write down the design procedure for rope drive.
