                           Period 6

By: Da k o ta S ch a rn ic k
Who developed the Periodic
           table?
Dmitri Mendeleev created the
Periodic table in Russia on
1869.

The Periodic table is made by
ordering the elements according
to their atomic number.

He created it because he was
trying to find elements with
similar properties.
How is the table organized.
            The Periodic table is organized
            by Atomic number, metals,
            nonmetals, periods, groups,
            and stability.

            It’s also organized with vertical
            columns and horizontal rows.

            Vertical columns are called
            groups or families. The
            horizontal rows are called
            periods.
Groups on the Periodic table.
Periods on the Periodic table.
The relationships bet ween
               elements
Each family or group the
elements have the same
number of valence electrons.

The elements are grouped
according to element. They
also go in increasing atomic
mass and number.

Higher melting/boiling
point as you go in the
middle of the table.
