Piranhas are small freshwater fish that live in the rivers
of South America.
The black piranha is the largest piranha species.
The black piranhas has the most powerful bite of any
animal in history.Their sharp and pointed teeth are
arranged in a single row. Piranhas upper and lower
teeth fit together so neatly so that they can remove
flesh.
They can bite through a hook made of silver. Their jaw
bone is so strong, that it can crush a human hand
in 5-10 seconds.
3. What are they attracted to?
Most people think that piranhas have appetites for
blood, but they are actually omnivores, which means
they eat animals and plants.
Just like sharks, piranhas have sensory organs which
help them detect blood in the water.
4. DinnerTime
When piranhas are hungry they gang up in a
school and work together as a ferocious killing
machine!
They usually eat snails, fish, frogs, young
caimans, plants, seed and fruit.
They will feast on animals and birds when they
fall into the water, which doesn't happen that
often.

Piranhas teeth are razor sharp and are often used
as tools themselves.
Local people use piranhas teeth to make weapons,
carve wood, sharpen darts, shaving and cutting
hair!
