2. • The audience for my media product would have to be 18
and over, because of the themes, as well as the age of
the actors themselves and it may appeal to a younger
audience rather than an older one. I think that the age
range cannot be under an 18 certificate because of the
nature of some of the themes within the thriller, such as
death, violence and the showing of weaponry within it.
3. • It would generally appeal to an audience who enjoys the
various themes of thrillers such as action, adventure,
mystery and darker themes such as murder and the
investigation of a murder/s. I found this theme in several
of the thrillers that I researched such as The Usual
Suspects (Bryan Singer, 1995) and Angels & Demons
(Ron Howard, 2009), as well as the film Se7en (David
Fincher, 1995).
4. • Within all of these films there is a murder that needs to
be solved and investigated and I thought that by showing
a murder within the opening scene of my thriller that I
would appeal to that specific audience, as these thrillers,
within the opening scene do show or mention a death.
• I would definitely give my thriller an 18 certificate
because within the opening sequence, in the first two
minutes, a death is shown.
5. • My thriller does have show the themes that I found in the
thrillers I researched and I think that it would appeal to an
audience who found thrillers engaging. I would definitely
keep the certificate the same as I do think because of the
nature of themes, it should remain.
