Digital Citizenship iBooks will be loaded to each student’s iPad. Teacher
editions will be loaded to each teacher’s iPad and available throughout
the school year in iBooks.

9. AS YOU READ THROUGH THE OVERVIEW…
• All students will use eBooks. The materials have been preloaded for you. Printing is not
required.
• The iBook has a built in email function. A student email is not required.
• PRIOR to getting started, the STUDENT must set up the email widget. It is simple.
In the student edition…
Have each student open the book in iBooks. It will begin with the Introduction.
On page 4 they will set up the email widget.
10. Students will need their name, the teacher’s name and the teacher’s email. This cant be
projected to the Apple TV from the teacher device to ensure proper spelling.
14. INTRODUCTION
The introduction will explain what it means to be a digital citizen and give tip for
following along and completing the lesson.
This is when the students will set up the email function so they can submit their work.
Now they are ready to begin…

Students can use their finger and write their
answers onto the screen.
Completed work can be sent directly by
email to the teacher.

Digital Citizenship is a digital curriculum, offered for free, by Common Sense Media. It aims to prepare students and teachers for what they will encounter in the digital world and prepare them to deal with internet safety, cyberbullying and much more.
What should you expect during the roll out of a 1:1 program and why is digital citizenship important?
To begin, click on the Teacher’s Edition of the Book titled- Digital Literacy & Citizenship
Prior to beginning with students, teachers are encouraged to read through the overview section.
Once the overview is complete, the Units are accessible by advancing to the next section of the book by clicking the dots at the bottom of the page.
The beginning of the lesson will give you information such as, estimated time, materials needed and key vocabulary.
