2. The Nutcracker
My belly flip flopped around as butterflies struggled,
waiting to be let out, free. After what seemed
like an hour, the curtain opened, showing hundreds
of expectant faces staring down at me. I felt like
I needed to hold on, to still grasp the thoughts going
in my head. I froze, thinking about my next move.
I finally came to the right conclusion and let go.
I just danced.
3. GOAL!!!!
We were tied. 3-3, lose-to-lose, win-to-win, and any
other way of saying that this was our last game of the
season and we were going to lose. But… Could I be the one
to get the winning goal? As we played the last half out, we
stuck to the same strategy: Midfield passes to defence
who boots it up the field to striker who kicks it into the
goal. Our striker was out though, so I had to sub for her.
As I charged down the field like an angry bull, I suddenly
veer off to the right as though my body had a mind of it’s
own. Time slowed as I lifted my foot, ready to strike it in.
The ball slipped out of the goalie’s grasp as if it was made
out of water and… GOAL!
4. The Best Kind Of Beauty
The best times are when the lake is smooth
and the only sound heard are the rustle of
trees and the occasional sound of a lonely
loon, crying out into the soft summer air. The
islands around me where blossomed with
beautiful summer homes filled with gardens
with color bursting out like they had been
waiting just for me. The light tide washed
onto my ankles as if wanting me to come be
out there forever. I smiled as I thought to
myself, I'll be back soon. It was a full on
promise.
