Advocacy for Libraries and the Profession
The association actively works to increase
public awareness of the crucial value of libraries and
librarians, to promote state and national crucial value
of libraries and librarians, to promote state and
national legislation beneficial to libraries and library
users, and to supply the resources, training and
support networks needed by local advocates seeking
to increase support for libraries of all types.
25. Magbasa Tayo Movement
• It was founded on 2015.
• It was a movement to help
public libraries (barangay
reading centers) to have their
own library collections and to to
form partnership.
• Our first recipient was the
Community of Brgy. 555, Zone
55, Sampaloc, Manila.
• We extended book donations in
Lamitan City Library and Jose
Reyes Memorial Medical Center
– Pedia Ward.
33. Si MADdona at Si Kapitan
Bookmark
• It was introduced by I Am Making A
Difference last August 2016 in Palawan.
• This program is to advocate the culture
of reading to kids.
• We perform a short storytelling kit on the
importance of reading.
• Additional activity is by creating there
DIY bookmarks.
• And lastly, we will give them books each
for them to read at home.
38. What can libraries do to contribute to SDGs?
• Promote universal literacy, including media
and information literacy and digital literacy
• Closing gaps in information access
• Libraries as network of delivery sites for
government programs and services
• Access to information and research data
• Support digital inclusion
