2. #1 Affordable to the
Student
• The cost of books is eliminated.
Giving students a break on the
overall costs of college. Also
instructor does not have to
make sure books are ordered
and in the bookstore. Also
students will have their book
the first day of class.
3. #2 Materials can be
customized and tuned to a
specific student audience.
• Each new class of students all have a unique group
feature about them. Their learning styles the group
dynamic change from one class to the next. Adjustments
sometimes need to be done on the fly.
4. #3 A greater freedom to combine different
media and other sources of information.
• Allows the use of a
combination of resources
that can include Video on
technique as well as
Lecture on a specific topic
and allow for (Canvas)
zoom time during this time
of crisis. Books tend to be
just pictures and words.
5. #4 Marketing the program as well as the trade
to a national as well as international audience.
• Welding is one of many trades used around the world under the sea as well
as space! This information could be delivered any where and with the right
software in any language.
6. #5 Bringing together the welding instruction
community statewide.
• As I have said the WWIA Washington
Welding Instructors Association has
talked for years about projects like this.
Many of our Canadian collogues have
done a great many curriculum projects
nation wide creating national welding
curriculum.
8. # -1 Potential for
misuse.
• History could be rewritten; false
statements could be made.
• More then one set of eyes needs to be
involved.
9. # -2 Incorrect technical information
could be given.
• Potentially there could be an explosion.
• Information needs to be correct.
10. # -3 Lack of time and funding to do
the work.
• How much time does one have in a day to do any
extra work? Currently I have a fulltime job!
• Much of the work is donated.
• Is recognition enough.
11. # -4 Matching level of
curriculum and computer skills
to the student level of reading,
writing and computer skills.
• Different students have different ways of learning and
assimilating information which brings on the dilemma
how to reach all the students.
12. # -5 Making sure
every contributor is
recognized!
• To make sure every
contributor is
recognized could turn
into a great deal of
work.
• This, creates a great
deal of work that needs
to be checked.
