Community immersion is a strategy used in community organizing to give NSTP trainees a better understanding of community concerns by exposing them to actual life situations in deprived communities. The goal is for trainees to undergo changes that make them more civic-minded and socially responsible citizens by developing an appreciation for community service work. Each trainee must live with community members to understand their concerns and go through self-transformation and personal growth while addressing multi-faced community issues through needs-based projects and activities.
