Dear Greek WeekAward Selection Committee,
It gives me great pleasure to submit this letter on behalf of Kelsey Orf as she applies for
Greek Woman of the Year. I have knownKelsey for the last four years as a member of Student
Government and the last twoyears as an employee of Campus Life & Event Services. I believe she
possesses the skills and traits that would make her an excellent Greek Woman of the Year.
It is no small accomplishment to dedicate fouryears to one student organization with
progressive leadership responsibility, especially if that organization is Student Government.
However, that is precisely what Kelsey has accomplished. Overthis time I have witnessed her in a
variety of roles; all of whichshe has handled with maturity, professionalism and poise. For the last
twoyear she has served as the SG Vice President. In this role she demonstrates diplomacy,
navigates challenging political decisions, articulates detailed data to others to utilize in strategic
planning and initiatives and creates a seamless environment fordebates and conversations. I have
been impressed by her wit, accuracy and ability to maintain order and direction of the Senate.
In addition to her SG leadership roles, Kelsey has also been involvedin a variety of other
clubs and organizations including Presidential Ambassadors, President’s Leadership Academy, HR
Redhawks Club, Alpha Delta Pi and Panhellenic Council. She is equally as dedicated to these
organizations whichhave required outstanding communication, decision making and critical
thinking skills.
Throughout her years at Southeast, Kelsey has alwaysheld a job. This may get overlooked
by some; however,I think it speaks to her ability to manage her time and to develop workplace
skills and competencies. For the last twoyears, Kelsey has workedon my staff in Campus Life. Her
job here changes on a daily basis. She is alwayswilling to jump in and tackle the projectof the day.
I appreciate her dedication, initiative, and commitment to what she is working on. If the task isn’t
complete and she needs to stay a little late, she does. If she needs to provide direction to the next
staff member coming into work, she makes sure the staff member understands the instructions that
have been left forthem to complete the project.
I believe a Greek Woman of the Year should be someone whois well-rounded, a good
student, a strong leader with organizational involvementinside and outside of the Greek
community and a woman of integrity. I believe Kelsey Orf possesses all of these traits and
competencies. In addition, she dedicates her time and energy toensuring Southeast is a better
place for those who willcome after her. I highly recommend Kelsey for Greek Woman of the Year.
Sincerely,
Michele Irby, Director
