Deja Carthon
Hello Everyone,
My name is Deja, and I have to daughters Genesis and Halo. I have resided in Columbus, OH for the past nine years and graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Human Ecology. I have no direct experience has a teacher, but I have been working in schools for the past six years as a Site Manager for an after-school program. It was not until this past year where I decided I wanted to get into education and become a principal.
The MAED Program Learning Outcomes that I believe will be most beneficial and contribute to my career goals are Engage in continuous professional growth through leadership in educational environments and the demonstration of legal and ethical behavior in professional practices. Use knowledge of subject matter and central concepts of the discipline(s) to create technology-enriched learning environments that promote learner achievement and innovation. My long-term career goal is to become a principal at a middle or high school. Being able to grow professionally through leadership will help me develop and maintain the skills I need to be a successful principal of a building and a great leader. I also believe using knowledge of subject matter, and central concepts of discipline to create technology-enriched learning environments that promote leaner achievement and innovation will help me create an environment to enhance learning and growth for my students and teachers.
Assessments are necessary for education because they keep students and teachers on track and can be used as guides for the teacher to know what information their students are gaining. Assessment can also be used for students to understand what areas they are struggling in and what areas they are doing well. Assessments are also critical in education because it helps the teacher set goals for their students and selves.
Kaitlin McCarthy
My name is Kaitlin McCarthy. I’m engaged to my fiancé and we have a one-year-old puppy together, Maverick. I currently work and reside in Keene, New Hampshire but am moving to Charlotte, NC at the end of January. Right now, I am the afternoon infant teacher in a Waldorf setting.
After reading the Program Learning Outcomes of the MAED program, I have decided that I am most intrigued by: Design appropriate and challenging learning experiences informed by analysis of how learners develop individually across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical patterns to promote student learning and growth. This outcome, I believe, relates to me the most because I want to teach the younger years such as infants to preschool-aged children.
Assessment is important because it tells the teacher where the student/child is at academically and what the teacher needs to do to help improve the students’ knowledge of certain subjects. The assessment also tells the teacher where the child ...

In this document, I discussed the impacts that John Holland had on the effectiveness of assessment in the counseling profession. To fully be able to describe how the SDS works, I took the test and explained the results that I found from the assessment.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to recommend Lisa Tagal for the College and Career readiness
coordiantor position at Shorewood High School. As the School President for Charter College
and Everest College, I had the pleasure to supervise Lisa in her role as an Externship
Coordinator, Career Services Director and Student Success Director. I would welcome the
opportunity to have Lisa work for me for the fourth time for all of the reasons listed below and
many more that you will see once you meet and work with Lisa.
I first heard of Lisa’s desire to work at Everest College when she researched and located my
work email then contacted me and expressed an interest in the Extern Coordination position. She
sent me an email and came to the campus and introduced herself and her desire to make a career
change into the education field. I really appreciated this gesture; with nearly 50 job applications
to read and sort through it can be difficult to identify all qualities on paper. The fact that she
went beyond the regular application process was impressive to me and showed me that she is
someone who goes above and beyond what’s expected. I saw her grow and develop as an
individual, gain a detailed understanding of the education sector and establish positive working
relationships with current students, graduates, peers and employers. She was hard working and
dedicated to the position and proved she was capable of additional responsibilities so I promoted
her to the Director of Career Services.
Ms. Tagal regularly demonstrated an ability to work effectively with staff, students,
administration and the community, including individuals of diverse backgrounds, life
experiences and abilities. She leveraged her superior communication, organizational, project
management, attention to detail, technology, problem-solving and interpersonal communication
skills to work with her peers and develop out-of-the box solutions to complex operational
problems, develop policies and procedures to meet the mission of the college, and attain the
highest scores on regulatory compliance audits for the institution by keeping detailed and
accurate records.
Lisa is one of the most kind and multi-talented professionals I have ever worked with. She is a
natural born leader, but still one who works at her craft and is constantly seeking new skills, new
information, and new avenues to professionally connect with others. She is able to handle
difficult or sensitive situations utilizing sound judgment gained from her work experience
working with students on sensitive educational issues.
Based on her solid employment record, I would strongly recommend her for any position for
which she feels qualified and shows interest. She will definitely not disappoint, as she is an
extremely fast learner, ambitious, diligent, and maintains high standards and levels of integrity.
Feel free to contact me about her.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Lothyan
