1. NARRATIVE TECHNIQUES

2. FLASH BACK
I chose to use flashbacks in my video as this made a
slight change to a linear narrative. This was something
that in my opinion did not carry genre characteristics as
indie videos tend to use linear narratives and this makes
the style of narrative more interweaving rather than
completely linear.

3. FORESHADOWING
I decided to add a photo of the couple in my video to the start of
my video. This foreshadowed the events that are going to occur
between them. It also is a hint to the fact that the couple have a
past and that there is more to the video than you may first see at
the star of the video.

4. FRAMING DEVICE
I used the vitamin tablet in my video as a framing device
as this is something that depicts the rest of my video and
the events that are going to occur throughout. If I had not
used this I wouldn’t have something that would allow me
to base the events in my video on.

5. MACGUFFIN
The mask in my music video was used as a macguffin
as it acted as a trigger for the plot. In that sense, it
meant that the video wouldn’t make particular
sense without it. My entire plot is based on the use
of the mask and wouldn’t have the same effect
without it

6. NARRATIVE HOOK
In my opinion, the spiking of the drink
in my video acts as narrative hook as it
may make the viewer want to watch on
so that they can see the outcome of
the action.

7. REDHERRING
I created two scenes in my music video to act
as red herrings as they detoured from the
initial plot and created side stories and flash
backs for the audience to see.
