The Three Principals of UDL
  1: How we present information
  to the learner

  There must be multiple means
  of representation

  Providing multiple
  representations makes it so
  everyone can make sense of it

 expression

 Students vary in
 how they express
 what they know
The Three Principals of UDL
 3: The most important
 principal!
 Multiple means of
 engagement
 If the teacher doesn’t
 engage the students or get
 them motivated in learning
 then no other principals
 will be important
Four Components of UDL
 1. Set Goals for the class
 2. Materials used in the class- Are they the key to
 learning? Are they universally designed?
 3. Methods- How does the teacher teach when
 they are helping students learn?
 4.. Assessment- how are we sure learning really
 occurs? Is the learner doing poorly?
