- 4. Unequal If it goes both ways it’s not bullying.
- 5. Repeated If it just happened once, it’s not bullying.
- 6. Harmful If you’re not harmed in any way, and it hasn’t happened before, it’s not bullying.
- 8. Deliberate When you say or do something nasty because you are trying to be mean. When you take or hide something that’s not yours. When you break someone else’s things When you hurt someone on purpose. You might be a bully if you hurt someone on purpose. hurting on purpose = bullying
- 9. Unequal Unequal power…. when you use your size, or strength, or privilege, or knowledge to hurt someone on purpose. You might be a bully if you use your power to hurt someone. unequal power used to hurt = bullying
- 10. Repeated When you do and say mean things over and over again. You might be a bully if you say and do mean things often. often mean = bullying
- 11. Harmful If you often deliberately say or do mean things to hurt others, then you are a bully. deliberately using your power again and again to hurt someone = Bullying

Editor's Notes
- Accidents are not bullying A one off angry outburst is not bullying
- If there is no power unbalance, or size difference, or age difference it probably isn’t bullying.
- If something unpleasant is done to you often, and you don’t like it, over time, that is likely to be very harmful.
- Do you know about someone getting bullied? What did you do? Are you a bystander who lets someone else get bullied?
- Practice saying this. Show respect for others by looking after them. Show respect for yourself by doing the right thing.
- Being resourceful is about using all of the resources available to you - there are lots of ways to tell someone. Write a note. Ring them up. There are lots of different people to tell - a friend, a parent, a sibling, a cousin, a neighbour, a teacher, phone a helpline. Being resilient is about being persistent - not giving up. Don’t stop telling others about things that are happening. If it happens again, tell again. Sometimes adults are so busy doing adult things that they need to be told things again and again…. Be persistent and don’t give up when you are doing something important.
