LEARNING OBJECTIVES
M By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to use a dictionary to check meaning of at least seven words.

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to read and understand the main idea of the text by labelling at least
two pictures in the infographic with the missing information.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
Pupils can:
a. read and understand the steps in the jeans-making process.
b. check the meaning of words using a dictionary.
c. match the labels to the correct pictures.
Pre-lesson
1. Say ‘Jeans’. A volunteer then says a word he/she associates to the word. eg. (blue)
2. Continue around the class with next pupil saying a word he/she associates with the word ‘blue’. e,g
sea, and so on.
 Continue until everyone has said a word. e.g. jeans – blue – sea – beach – coconut – fruit

3. Activity 1:
a. Pupils look at the infographic on page 71.
b. Pupils work in pairs with a dictionary.
c. They check the meaning of the words in the box on the Pupils’ Book, p.70. (Assessment)
d. If dictionaries are not available, pupils can use the word listat the back of the Pupil’s Book (p.139)
4. Activity 4:
a. Pupils read the text again quickly and match the labels to the correct pictures. (Assessment)
b. Check answers as a class.
c. Ask pupils to note any more words in the text that are new.
d. Encourage them to guess the meaning from the context.
Post lesson
5. Play Backs to the board with kinds of clothes that are made of cotton. (Games Bank TB pg 16)
e.g. shorts, T-shirts, socks etc
