This webinar provides an overview of recent research on equally yoked dyads. It defines an equally yoked dyad as a couple whose civil identities, such as ethnicity, politics, religion, race, age, sexual orientation and marital status, are equal or very similar. The webinar will present notable studies on equally versus unequally yoked couples and include a case study discussion. Attendees will have a question and answer session and receive a summary of key takeaways.

5. “Equally Yoked”

yoak‘d) and is when a couple-recognize, identified with,
relates to, believes in, bonds with, and marries one another
purposefully of the same (or at least nearly the same) ‘Civil
identity’* …thus in a multi-cultural society are considered,
‘equally yoked’1.
* ‘Civil identity’ is a Social Psychology term -

7. A Few Terms--
• In Dyadic Psychology: Dyadic-refers to ‘a Pair’
• Equally yoked couples who share the same ‘civil
identity’ are said to ‘couple’or ‘couple-up’ (verbs)
are normally a male and female bonding for the
purpose of making and rearing children.
– However, to pair or pair-off (verbs), means at best-- to
become engaged and marry just to have sex.
• Clinically, if twosomes have been verified as ‘equally
yoked’ mates, then they're sometimes called a mated
equally yoked pair or, in clinical research science,
just an ‘equally yoked’dyad.(41)

8. Don’t Know About
• “Dyadic psychologists are SocPsy specialists who
know a lot about the unique, rare, and valued social
phenomena - ‘equally yoked’ verses ‘unequally
yoked’ couples - in relationships, (41) ..but,…
• “…approximately 51% of psychologists working in
clinical or counseling, either private practice or
therapy settings...hasn’t at all… neither has…
• …about 69% of psychologists working in academic
settings of Liberal Arts Universities and Colleges.
• …almost 23% of psychologists working in other jobs
or career settings, such as; consultants, industrial
positions, and secondary schools.” (42)

10. Psychosocial Health Care
• Rx
– It is recommended to individuals and couples to pursue and
attain psychosocial health and wellness – which means – to
stop devolving into unhealthy relationships and instead start
evolving (i.e., growing and developing) into the best and
healthiest of primary relationships.
• Proscriptive
– to cease and desist from any couple being unequally yoked.
• Prescriptive
– to secure appropriate and professional counseling for assistance
in forming and maintaining a healthy primary equally yoked
coupleship for the best long term happiness, and bio-
psychosocial wellbeing, and even an extended span of life.

11. A Full Toolbox
• “The best counseling or psychotherapy approach
focuses on changing difficult relationship acts or
ongoing actions, or negative addictive acting out,…
• …into bright new behaviors, better feelings, and
more improved positive thoughts by discovering…
• …unconscious meanings and motivations related to
‘unequally yoked’ vs ‘equally yoked’ relationships...
• ….makes for a full toolbox.” (43)

12. “…by God’s …grace…”
• “…the finding/meeting and enjoining of
couples who comprise an ‘equally yoked’
coupleship is completed only by the power of
God’s love, the principle of reciprocity, and
grace…”
