This document summarizes the background and research of two professors focused on computer-assisted language learning (CALL). It discusses their past research projects involving using online interaction and videoconferencing to increase student motivation, confidence, and English ability. The document also outlines a study conducted with 227 Taiwanese EFL students where scaffolding strategies were used during lessons incorporating presentation, discussion, and assignment activities with a native English speaker over videoconferencing.
