To Whom It May Concern:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a trained educator with nineteen (19) years of teaching experience in the areas of
elementary, middle and high school mathematics. I have also worked in an educational
leadership capacity as a principal for nine (9) years. My greatest joy always comes from
affecting the teachers of those students who have been left behind, academically or socially. I
have engaged in non-traditional instructional practices that gear towards meeting the needs of
the at risk learner. For example, I’ve developed a program that integrates the performing arts
with academic learning. Though the former institution that I led was designed for all students,
its success also attracted students with learning challenges, who were able to return to regular
classroom settings. This is now the focus of my doctoral dissertation in Educational Leadership
at Nova Southeastern University.
I am seeking a position as an instructional coach or curriculum specialist. I have
coached and mentored teachers wherever I’ve taught, even without the title. It is my passion to
encourage others, impart knowledge and propel others towards excellence. As a servant leader,
I believe observation, relating and one-legged interviews are very important in leading. During
my role as principal, parents regularly commented that the comradery in my organization was
phenomenal, and their children never wanted to leave. A more recent example of this involves
my experiences this past year at a behavioral center that started out as a mammoth task. In the
end, it produced many behavioral and academic successes due to my holding up a high
standard of excellence, high expectations for students and a lot of love imparted upon hurting
students on my team.
I’m confident that I would be an asset to your institution, and I look forward to an opportunity
to serve in excellence.
Sincerely,
Karen Miller.
