3. Overview
• This is a review of the Australian mockumentary Summer Heights
High by British newspaper The Guardian. Because of the fact that The
Guardian is seen as a high-class newspaper, this review of the show is
written in a formal manner, despite the content of the show itself
being very offensive and informal. As a whole, the review heavily
praises the show, calling it a “masterclass in character comedy”.
4. Review Focus
• The Guardian’s review is rather extensive, as is the case for many of
their review. It talks about each of the three characters at separate
stages, and in order to back up their claims, they use specific
examples of their actions or dialogue to emphasise why they have
that opinion of the character. This is something that I could definitely
incorporate into my review. Although there is only one ‘main’
character, I can use examples of dialogue and actions in order to
explain my opinion of him.
