Subject: Endorsement for Kate O’Neill
I cannot speak highly enough about Kate O’Neill as an exceptional colleague and
mentor within the College of Business.
I started working with Kate in the Spring of 2012. We were both teaching a section of
BUS 207, Business Communication. She went out of her way to help me succeed as an
instructor in a professional and helpful manner. She would meet with me before we
covered a new chapter in the textbook. Kate would map out her lesson plans and share
the classroom activities that she had honed to perfection over the past nine years. I
was able to walk into the classroom confidently and deliver the content of the course in
a manner that was tried and tested in the past. As a result, the students enjoyed the
course and became better communicators. Kate was also receptive to new ideas and
encouraged me to adapt the lessons to my own preferences. In short, Kate gave me
the tools necessary to begin teaching BUS 207. I am very grateful for her time, her
knowledge and wisdom.
Kate continues to be an exceptional colleague because she is helping me develop as a
researcher. She has encouraged me to expand my professional skills in the area of
research. We are working on a project together and she is yet again mentoring me in
an area that I want to know more about. She is a colleague who inspires me to strive
for excellence in teaching and research. Her door is always open to me and I feel
comfortable talking to her about anything related to the College of Business.
Kate is a wonderful asset to the College of Business. She is easy to work with,
supportive and highly qualified. It is a pleasure to work so closely with Kate.
