1. This semester has been interesting to say the least. A lot
has happened in my life. I lost family, I lost love, I totaled
my first car, I was disowned by my father, I lost friends, I
made new friends, I got a new car, I have learned to think
twice about my actions. I have learned to listen to my
parents more. I have also learned about time
management. I learned that one a little late though. I am
writing this the night before it is due. I have had the whole
weekend, I chose instead to hang out with my friends and
go have fun. Iʼm paying for it now. I have two tests to study
for and I have to finish writing this.
I had been dreading this semester since I first learned
about the senior project. Everyone had always told me
how hard it was. How much they hated it. How it was such
a waste of their time. It wasnʼt until this year that my older
friends finally told me that it wasnʼt that bad. As long as I
did everything on time and didnʼt procrastinate I would be
fine. They were right. The research paper was easy. I
found more than plenty of resources and since it is a topic
I am passionate about, doing the research and writing the
paper was the easiest part of the project. I thought it would
be the worst. Then came the hours portion of the project.
At first I had trouble with this part. My mentorʼs students
went to their extra curricular classes during the time period
I would be able to work with them. As if that wouldnʼt be
tricky enough, I totaled my car a week before I was going
to start my hours. It took some work but, I went with my
mentor to the other classes and secured permission from

2. those teachers to observe and work with the students
while they were with them. Doing the hours was my
favorite part. I absolutely loved working with the children.
When I started this project I had an idea that I may want to
be an elementary school teacher but I wasnʼt dead set on
it. I used the senior project as a chance to see if it was the
career path that I wanted to follow. With the senior project
I learned that it is. Working with the kids and helping them
learn and watching them grow brings me joy and a sense
of accomplishment. getting to South Elementary school to
do those hours was less difficult than I thought it would be.
I fixed the problem of having no car by asking my mom
and some friends for rides there and back. My friends just
asked for a little gas money in return. The only thing about
the senior project that I have found difficult so far is the
Iweb. I am good with the apple computers but I had a lot of
trouble with that. I felt like it fought me the whole way. I
finally got everything besides this final reflection put in on
Friday. I am excellent with keynote so creating my
presentation should be a breeze. The only thing I am
worried about is the speech. I have no problem talking to
people. I am just worried I may trip over my words or
forget where I am in my speech.
All in all I am grateful that Mooresville Senior High Scool
has the senior project. It has taught me so much in just a
few short months. I feel like I have grown as a student. I
feel more ready for college and the world of work. I believe

places.
