- 6. more than 1,000,000,000 people worldwide are suffering from hunger
- 8. right here on this planet,
- 9. right now at this moment.
- 10. One percent of them
- 11. die
- 12. of hunger and malnutrition each year.
- 13. So how do we help them?
- 16. They just need 24 billion dollars each year .
- 17. Unfortunately, the total expenditure of World Food Programme
- 18. who provided food for 102.1 million people in 78 countries in 2008
- 19. was only US$3.72 billion in that year.
- 20. Do you think that 24 billion dollars is a huge amount of money?
- 21. I don’t think so.
- 22. If every country
- 23. gave
- 24. less than 0.05 percent of its GDP in 2008,
- 26. there would be 24 billion dollars.
- 27. If every government of countries
- 28. gave
- 29. less than 2 percent of its military expenditure in 2008,
- 31. there would be 24 billion dollars.
- 32. If every company whose name was in Forbes Global 2000 list
- 33. gave
- 34. a bit more than 1 percent of its profits in 2008,
- 36. there would be 24 billion dollars.
- 37. If every citizen of developed countries and territories
- 38. gave
- 39. less than 2 dollars of his or her income once a month in 2008,
- 41. there would be 24 billion dollars.
- 42. But they didn’t,
- 43. or
- 44. most of them didn’t.
- 45. So this is not a technological issue.
- 47. This is not an economic issue.
- 49. This is even not a political issue,
- 51. but a moral issue.
- 52. Do you believe it?
- 53. Are you still sitting there and doing nothing for this?
- 54. If your conscience allows you to do so,
- 55. what do you think the difference is
- 56. between you and this man?
- 58. He killed more ?
- 59. I don’t think so.
- 60. People more than those who died in World War II
- 62. starved to death in the last decade .
- 63. People more than those who died in the Holocaust
- 65. starve to death each year .
- 66. People more than three times of those who died in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

- 69. People more than eight times of those who died in 9.11
- 71. starve to death each day .
- 72. One person
- 73. who just wishes for some food
- 74. starves to death each three seconds .
- 75. Most of those starved people
- 76. are children
- 78. under five years old.
- 79. What made those children starved?
- 82. Wars ?
- 84. The global food crisis ?
- 86. I don’t think so.
- 87. Our indifference killed the children.
- 88. This is an issue of a choice .
- 89. As a member of this cold society,
- 90. what do you choose to do?
- 91. To save
- 93. or to kill ?
- 95. You can donate money, food or whatever you can donate to World Food Programme.
- 96. Even if you don’t have the power or money ,
- 97. you can go to www.thehungersite.com and www.freerice.com to give free food.
- 98. You can go to www.wfp.org , www.fao.org , and www.ifad.org to learn more.
- 99. You can tell all those things you learned to your family, friends, strangers and whoever you can speak to…
- 100. Just believe it, there are many things you can do .
