BUILDERS
CLUB
Service to Home, School,
and Community
Builders Club offers
character and values
development.
Builders Club Pledge: "I pledge on my honor to
uphold the objects of Builders Club; to better my school, my
community, my nation, and myself; to aid those in need while
enhancing leadership capabilities; and to encourage the
fellowship of all mankind."
2. K. Brown
Builders Club is a “student-led”
community service organization.
What makes Builders Club so
successful is that it is a student-led
organization that teaches leadership
through serving others.
Builders Club is open to any middle school
student who wants to join.
Each club and school principal has the
latitude to set conditions for membership.
Generally, any student who is interested in
performing community service may join
Builders Club.
Not all middle schools have a Builders Club
—KMS does and has supported this
endeavor since 2000.It operates under
school regulations and draws its members
from the student body.
Builders Club is unique because the Kiwanis
Club, composed of leading business and
professional people of the community,
serves as the club’s sponsor. Our KMS
Kiwanis sponsor is Mr. Richard Phillips of
Kernersville. Our school sponsor is Mrs.
Kathy Brown, a 7th
and 8th
grade science
teacher.
Builders Club is cool because our
members begin to experience what it
means to serve lifelong as a community
member.
To be a club member at KMS, students:
• Must be passing all their courses
from the previous quarter,
• Must not have been in-school or
out-of-school suspension,
• Conduct themselves respectfully
and responsibly at club meetings,
• Enjoy working hard,
• Ask three teachers to recommend
them for community service, and
• Pay an annual $3 membership fee
that goes to the Kiwanis club. This
contribution shows a level of
commitment from the member and
provides liability insurance coverage
for the student.
The KMS Builders’ Club collects, counts, and submits Box Tops for Education to Youth
for America and Campbell Soup Labels. Proceeds help to our campus and community.
