Masjid Ibaadillah was established in 1985 in Los Angeles by a small group of Muslims who held prayers and Sunday school in a member's home. It has since grown and relocated to larger buildings, including a separate section for sisters. Under Imam Saadiq Saafir's leadership, the masjid has emphasized Islamic studies and training youth for leadership. Imam Saadiq also co-founded the ILM Foundation to provide food and supplies for the homeless and disrupt the cycle of poverty. The ILM Foundation organizes an annual Humanitarian Day during Ramadan where Muslims and non-Muslims volunteer to feed the poor. The letter requests support for the ILM Foundation to administer a zakat fund

To whom it may Concern:
My Name is Brother Roderick Blair, also known as brother Bilal Muhammad and I am the chairmen of the
board of directors at Masjid Ibaadillah. I serve as a representative of the Los Angeles community here at
Masjid Ibaadillah, and I assist our resident Imam, Jihad Saafir with community activities.
Masjid Ibaadillah was established in 1985. It started with a small group of hardworking Muslim men and
women, who held Friday prayers and Sunday school at one of the member's homes. Eventually, they were
able to relocate and transfer their activities to a building on Jefferson Blvd. After out growing that building
they had to purchase yet another building located next door, in which they were able to provide a sister's
section of the masjid.
Under the leadership of Imam Saadiq Saafir, Masjid Ibaadillah has always been a thriving community.
Imam Saadiq emphasized Islamic Studies by holding weekly classes covering various Islamic Sciences. Also,
in following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Saadiq has trained youth for positions of
leadership. As a result, Masjid Ibaadillah has been the birthplace for leaders and organizations.
In addition to education, Imam Saadiq has always taught the importance of social responsibility in the
community. Imam Saadiq is one of the co-founders of the ILM Foundation. The ILM Foundation serves the
community by providing free food and hygiene kits for the homeless. The ILM Foundation is a 501 (c)(3)
nonprofit organization which encourages people to work together enthusiastically to disrupt the vicious
cycle of poverty, hunger and neglect.
I believe the ILM Foundation's greatest accomplishment was the establishment of the Humanitarian Day
activities. Every year during the month of Ramadan the ILM Foundation gathers Muslims and Non-Muslims
together to feed the poor and needy in different cities with the help of volunteers. The ILM Foundation
has been a benefit to our community in so many ways.
Our community would benefit tremendously if the ILM Foundation administered a zakat fund. Our Masjid
has limited resources and we are not able to help with many of the financial challenges individuals face in
our community. The ILM foundation has always been instrumental in offing relief to those in need. I'm
grateful to Allah for allowing me to work with the ILM Foundation in setting the example of people helping
people. Please consider offering your support to a wonderful organization.
AsSalaamAlaikum,(~ r~r)
