theatre and have been here for over a year. I have been offered a place at university to
further my career as a nurse and do an odp course.
Employment History June 2014-present
Health care Assistant/Admin in theatre office.
My main roles are to ensure the operating list runs smoothly and complies with the
hospitals policies and procedures.
Theatre needs to be set up and organised for the operation. During the operation I will
get anything the scrub nurse and consultant need for that operation .
Collect patients from the ward and go through all necessary checks, for example.
Name, date of birth, check their consent form against this information and go through
their care plan before going to theatre.
Receiving booking forms and collecting the data to then put it onto our systems.
Answer all phone calls and queries and resolve them or give the correct information
for what they are phoning about.
Complete charge sheets for the operations we have done that day by inputting all the
correct information into our systems.
On a Thursday one of our consultants runs a clinic, for this I book patients in for their
follow ups or to come in for their procedures. I call them to confirm their
appointments the day before. If they are new patients we will call them and get all
their personal information from them to put in our systems so when they come in all
their information is complete already. We have a system that we use for this which I
know very well and use it correctly so we can keep a record of all our patients and
their details.
2. BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital November 2012-2014
Reception service assistant/Outpatients assistant
Greeting patients as they come into the hospital.
Admitting and discharging patients making sure the correct information is entered.
In outpatients I would collect insurance details from the patients and if they didn’t
have them I would call up the company and get the correct details.
Book them in for their next appointment and confirm it through letter at a later date.
Outpatients have their own system to keep a record of patients information and
appointments and I could use this system effectively and professionally.
