Currently completing my associate’s degree in Applied Science. Completed course work to
include Medical Terminology 1&2, Anatomy and Physiology 1 &2 , Medical office systems,
Legal ethics in healthcare, Insurance billing and coding, Pharmacology, general education
courses to enhance my communications skills, Current GPA 3.9. Graduation June 2016
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

Medical Assistant
Completed 160 hours. Duties to include front office experience with registration, checking
patients in for visits, answering and screening phone calls, validating insurance, and patient
scheduling using electronic software, and participating in maintain environmental asepsis; filed
records, answered multi- telephone lines, check-in/out; insurance verification, super bills,
deposits, EOD audits, claim forms.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Business Office Associate
Responsible for greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or
referring inquiries. Scheduling appointments in person or by telephone. Keeps patient
appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery
compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays. Comforts patients by anticipating
patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area. Ensures
availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records. Maintains patient
accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information. Obtains
revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient
charges; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims. Order needed supplies; placing and
expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and
repairs. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality following HIPPA guidelines and
rules.
Personal Experience
June 2012- October 2014 (NPO) Precious Jewels Richmond, VA
Volunteer/ Personal Assistant
Duties included meeting with the director of the non-profit organization. We helped young mothers that
were displaced and emancipated get the resources and they needed such as food, clothes for them and
their children, Job leads and education. I helped them set short and long-term goals. Called and followed
up to make sure they did not need any assistance. I also participated in activities such as award
ceremonies, and banquets.
Skills/Certifications
CPR, OSHA, HIPPA training and certificate, Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT, EMR. Pending CMA
certification.
