Why should you care about proper nutrition?
Accomplishments
• B.S. in Nutrition from the University of Texas-Austin
• M.S. in Nutrition from Boston University
• Currently a nutrition consultant for the Chicago Bulls
• Change in my eating habits during college resulted in drastic weight loss
“What should I eat for breakfast, lunch, and
dinner?”
• Highly-processed foods and soft drinks provide no nutritional benefit
• Foods high in protein and fiber will keep you full for a longer period of time
• Water and tea provide vast health benefits
• Limiting portion sizes reduces the likelihood of over-eating
• Skipping one meal leads to over-compensation during the next meal
Where can you get these nutritionally beneficial
foods from?
• Walmart
• Aldi
• Walgreens
• Whole Foods Market
• Pick n’ Save
• Peapod
• Produce markets
What are the benefits of excellent nutrition?
• Reduced risk for many diseases
• Proper nutrition during the childhood and adolescence stage is important for
proper growth and development
• Decreases the risk of obesity and weight-gain
• Preserves the body and increases the life-span of individuals
• Improves mood, happiness, and well-being
Consequences of poor nutrition?
Conclusion
• The clients that I have worked with in the past slowly implemented certain
foods into their diet
• A well-balanced diet is more attainable when healthy eating habits are
implemented slowly, but steadily
• Countless success stories of NBA players that have changed their eating
habits (i.e., Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah)
