1. QUALITIES OF THE SOUND
There are four elements to make differences
between sound and noise:
1.Pitch: High and low sounds.
2.Duration: long or short sounds.
3.Intensity: soft or strong sounds
4.Timbre: this quality allows to recognize
different instruments and voices.
3. CUALITIES OF THE SOUND: DURATION
Duration is represented by figures. If you
combine them you get a rhythm.
4. QUALITIES OF THE SOUND: INTENSITY
We represent the intensity with Italian words.
Some of them are:
5. QUALITIES OF THE SOUND: TIMBRE
Timbre allows to recognize the source of
the sound.
6. TEMPO
When we write a piece of music on the music score we can
indicate the speed we want the music to be played. And we
use Italian words. Some of them are:
-Lento: Very slowly.
-Adagio: Slowly.
-Andante: Slowly.
-Allegro: Fast.
-Presto (vivo, vivace): Very fast.
If we like to indicate gradual changes in speed we use the
words:
-Accelerando (accel.): Faster gradually.
-Ritardando (rit.): Slower gradually.
